Our work environment has undeniably changed in the last few years and recruiters need to be aware of those changes in order to be successful at what they are doing. The pandemic has had a huge impact on the changes that I am referring to and it seems that some of those predictions from the very emergence of the virus, which you can see here, have definitely come true. Regardless of the actual reasons behind these changes, the fact that we need to accept is that those changes are happening and we need to keep up with the trends.
As an employer and a recruiter, you certainly need to be aware of the trends that I have mentioned, because you need to adapt your hiring approach to them if you want to be successful. This is why I have decided to provide you with a list of certain recruitment trends that you should absolutely take into consideration and incorporate into your recruiting strategies.
1. Remote Work
Remote work is certainly not a new occurrence, but it is actually becoming more and more popular. In the past, there were only a handful or so of people who have been able to work from home. Today, however, everyone seems to have found a way to fulfill their work obligations from the comfort of their own home and most people don’t really feel like going back to the office when there is absolutely no need for it. We can say with certainty that this is a trend that won’t fade and that recruiters need to adapt to it.
2. Diversity & Equity
This is another trend that is certainly not new, but that is not going to fade anytime soon either. Gender equality probably takes the first place in this category, because people don’t want to feel less worthy just because they are of a specific gender. Equality and equity should not be taken for granted and recruiters are increasingly becoming aware of it. Adapting to this particular change has proven to be quite profitable for employers as well, because gender and ethnic diversity seems to have a positive impact on their revenue, increasing it up to 33%.

3. Mental Health
The pandemic has undoubtedly scared us all and it has made us more aware of our health in general, including our mental health. Even though the coronavirus didn’t affect mental health per se, we cannot fail to notice that the entire world has seen an increase in mental health issues due to the life changes and struggles that people have been experiencing during the course of the pandemic. Mental health has undeniably found a way to step out of the shadows and prove its importance and employers are also increasingly becoming aware of the necessity of taking it into consideration.
This is why various mental health policies are being developed, as well as employee well-being programs, apps, trainings and similar things. So, if you are a recruiter, this is certainly one of the things that you should be aware of, because mental health is undeniably important and it is a good thing that it has stolen the spotlight for a while. By keeping your staff healthy, you will also manage to drive your business towards success.
4. Recruitment Marketing
We certainly cannot talk about recruitment trends without mentioning marketing. You might not have had to worry about this so much in the past, but things are certainly changing and, as explained previously, you need to adapt. After all, adapting will lead you towards success and staying stuck in one place, and a place that doesn’t work well for that matter, will certainly get you nowhere.
So, one of the most significant recruitment trends that you need to use to your advantage is the involvement of marketing into the actual hiring process. Your goal is to locate and attract suitable applicants that would be a good fit for certain jobs and you need to use marketing for that. It somehow seems that the tables have turned, because it is now the employer who needs to attract the employee, while it was the other way around for a long time.
5. Artificial Intelligence
Another thing you should keep in mind is that artificial intelligence can actually be quite helpful in the recruitment process. It can make things a lot easier, which is why it is increasingly being used. So, you should start relying on certain AI tools and systems as well if you want to be successful in what you are doing.
