5 things to know before getting rhinoplasty in Phoenix

Are you thinking of getting a rhinoplasty in Phoenix in the near future? Before making the decision, here are some things you should know.

1. Choosing the right surgeon is the most important

The most important choice you will make is the right surgeon who will do your procedure. It’s not as simple as just typing Phoenix rhinoplasty and choosing the first name that appears on your search. You need to check their credentials and experience to ensure that they will do a good job. It would also be a good idea to meet your potential doctor for a consultation. They have to be able to explain the procedure to you. Ask them lots of questions and to show you pictures of their past works.

2. You will need to have realistic expectations

When you have your consultation with your potential surgeon, you usually tell them of your expectations on what you will look like after the procedure. This is an important step as you would want them to tell you whether this look can actually be achieved. You need to be realistic. Even if you bring a picture of your favorite celebrity and ask them to make your nose like theirs, the results can still be different as you have different facial features. The best is to still make it natural looking, only improving the appearance and not alter it too much.

3. You will not see the full results until after a year

Also, you should not expect that you will see the results right away. Rhinoplasty is not an instant solution to your problem. Most surgeons say that the full result will be seen after 12 or even 15 months. Some changes will be noticeable, especially after you have removed the splint from your nose. Once the swelling is completely gone, you will see more differences, and after some time you will see the reshaped nose.

4. You will need to be prepared for the bruising and swelling

Don’t think that you can go out of your house right away after you have had the surgery. After the procedure, there will be swelling and bruising in the first 3-5 days. Your bruising and swelling may vary from others who have had the procedure, what’s important is that you know how to take care of yourself post-surgery. You need to keep your head elevated so as not to put pressure on your nose and your heart rate should be below 100.

5. Plan some time off after the surgery in order to recover

Don’t make any plans for up to two weeks after your surgery. You will need that much time to recover from the bruising and swelling. Make sure to file your leave from work and do not accept any invitation to a social gathering. It’s also important to not do any activity that requires physical exertion. Even something as simple as a sneeze can affect your surgery, how much more if you try to exercise. Keep your activities light and follow all the instructions that the doctors give so that you can recover faster.
