5 Tips to Enjoy Nature During a Pandemic

Since the pandemic began, the majority of us have been stuck inside the house. Whether you were always outside before the pandemic or you just miss having the option of getting outside, you’re probably missing the great outdoors.

If you’re feeling the itch to enjoy nature like you used to, here are five ways to safely do so.

1. Visit a National Park

A national park is a great place to go when you want to fully indulge yourself in nature. And the best part is that there’s usually lots to do, such as rock climbing, hiking, swimming, horseback riding, rafting and more. Do some research and find a national park that’s close enough to make the drive. You can plan a whole day around it or even spend the night. Just keep in mind that most national parks charge a fee to get in, so remember to bring some cash along with you.

2. Go to Your Local Park

If you don’t want to do the whole national park thing, your local park is still a good option. Load the kids into the car and head to a park nearby so they can run wild and free. Let them exert as much energy as possible to make bedtime a breeze. You can even bring a picnic basket and have lunch there.

3. Go Hiking

If you’d rather stay local instead of trekking all the way to a national park, find a nice hiking trail in your area and take the family hiking for a day. Just remember to bring kids’ face masks and face masks for yourself, and to keep a safe distance from other hikers. You can find comfortable, high filtration face masks for kids and adults at retailers like Green Supply. While you don’t have to wear the mask outside, it’s important to keep it handy in case you come into contact with others on the trail.

4. Start a Garden in Your Backyard

Starting your own garden is a great way to enjoy nature during the pandemic. Get yourself some gardening gear, like seeds, a hand trowel, pruning shears, garden gloves, rake, garden hoe, weeder, etc. Think about what you want to plant and get to it.

5. Go to a Drive-Thru Animal Park

If you’ve got a Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure near you, take the kids and enjoy the show. You don’t even have to get out of your car to view the animals. On the tour, you’ll see animals like giraffes, tigers, lions, bears, baboons, foxes, ostriches, rhinos, and more. This is an easy way to enjoy nature that’ll get you out of the house and get the kids excited and learning something.

Enjoying nature during the pandemic is probably at the top of everyone’s list since we’ve been sitting around on our couches for the past year. The above ideas can help keep you in touch with nature despite the pandemic. Whatever you decide to do to enjoy nature during this pandemic, make sure you keep yourself and your family safe by wearing masks and keeping a safe distance from others.
