Best Bugs Bunny Episodes of All Time

This anthropomorphic gray and white rabbit named Bugs Bunny is one of the most famous cartoon characters of all time. He was created back in the late 1930s by Leon Schlesinger Productions and he was voiced by the famous voice actor, Mel Blanc. Bugs Bunny is well-known for his starring roles in Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated short films that was produced by Warner Bros. And since his debut, he has appeared in several feature films,  short films, music records, video games, comics, TV series, and even award shows. His popularity even made him the ninth most-portrayed film personality in the world and he even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

And in this article, we’re paying tribute to good old Bugs Bunny. We going to list down our top ten best Bugs Bunny cartoons of all time.

1. Wackiki Wabbit (1943)

Even if this short film features a one and done archenemy for Bugs Bunny but still, their dynamic duo are quite hilarious and it still continues to draw laughter until today. Apparently, these two men found themselves adrift on the sea with nothing to eat and they are about to resort to cannibalism if they did not find any food soon. Fortunately, they land on “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a’a’a island” where Bugs Bunny is and the two make a play for him to eat him up.  

Even though Wackiki Wabbit delves in cannibalism, it creates a hilarious romp that features Bugs Bunny trying to outwit two desperate guys that wants him for dinner.

2. Racketeer Rabbit (1946)

This is not the first episode where Bugs Bunny had the run with the mafia. What makes this episode stands out is Bugs’ confrontation with an Edward G. Robinson lookalike gangster named Rocky and his Peter Lorre-esque sidekick named Hugo. Bugs Bunny found himself in the hideout of Rocky and Hugo after camping out for the night on an abandoned farm. And being the clever bunny that he is, Bugs skillfully tricked the two in giving him a share from the loot they just stole during a robbery. Rocky and Hugo eventually found out that Bugs tricked them and he demanded Bugs to tell him where he hid his share. Bugs posed as a gangster as Hugo takes him for a ride. And Bugs proves his loyalty to Rocky by engaging in one hysterical fight with an imaginary police officer.

3. Long-Haired Hare (1949)

This episode features a blowhard opera singer named Giovanni Jones. While Giovanni was practicing his opera singing in his house, he overheard Bugs Bunny in his rabbit hole strumming in his banjo while singing a pop song. Giovanni finds the song and Bugs Bunny annoying but still he continues on with his singing. And he found himself singing along with Bugs Bunny. The comedy in this short is really spontaneous that it still manages to create a few laughs until today.

4. Rabbit Hood (1949)

This episode takes on the classic tale that features Bugs Bunny as he does battle with the Sheriff of Nottingham who is easily fooled. Bugs tricked him into building a house on his garden and halfway through constructing the house, he realized that Bugs fooled him and come up to his senses. Even though Sheriff of Nottingham is a one time villain for Bugs Bunny, he still supplied a lot of good laughs with him being gullible and the way how he ended every word with an “eth”.

5. Rabbit of Seville

This must be one of the most popular Bugs Bunny short of all time. Rabbit of Seville presents an artistic masterpiece of animation. This episode shows how Looney Tunes perfectly synchronize wonderful music with the animation. The best moment in this short is when Bugs Bunny orchestrated his fingers along Elmer Fudd’s head to the tune of the piano.

6. Rabbit Fire (1951)

This episode is Chuck Jones’ “Hunting Trilogy” where three shorts are set in different seasons, winter, spring, and autumn. And they all have the same plot. Elmer Fudd hunts Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck tries to run interference and it always ends up with Bugs Bunny humiliating them both. These three shorts were skillfully drawn and it serves as an introduction to Daffy, Elmer, and Bugs.

7. Broom-Stick Bunny (1956)

This short featured Witch Hazel on a Halloween night. As she was doing her business, she pauses at her magic mirror and asked it who is the ugliest one of all. The mirror then replied that she is the ugliest one of all. Meanwhile, Bugs Bunny is out trick-or-treating and he was dressed as a witch and his face was hidden behind an ugly green mask. And the chase begins when the Witch Hazel becomes jealous of Bugs because the magic mirror still tells them that she is the ugliest one of all even if Bugs is wearing an ugly green mask.

8. Little Red Riding Rabbit (1944)

Little Red Riding Rabbit features the story of  Bogart and his wife Baby eating in a restaurant. Baby demands that she wants a fried rabbit within twenty minutes and Bogart insisted that Elmer Fudd, the waiter, should produce a fried rabbit and fast. Fudd then came across Bugs Bunny then he tries to get Bugs into a frying pot.

9. Hair-Raising Hare (1946)

This short is about a mad scientist that sends out a shapely girl mechanical rabbit to lure Bugs out of his rabbit hole because the scientist wants to feed Bugs to his huge, orange, hairy, sneaker-wearing monster. But Bugs Bunny is not easily fooled and he disguised himself into a talkative manicurist, a lamp, a framed portrait, and a knight on a horse to trick and frustrate his scary opponent.

10. 8-Ball Bunny (1950)

8-Ball Bunny is a 7-minute short that tells the story of Playboy Penguin as he gets separated from his Ice-Capades show. Bugs Bunny came to the rescue he took care of the penguin and takes on the adventure to return the baby penguin back home.
