Best Places to Live in South Carolina

views

Also known as the Palmetto State, South Carolina is famous for a lot of reasons. College football, comfort food, and good old fashioned Southern hospitality are just a few of its notable features.

South Carolina holds a significant part of American history as far as the Civil War. It was the first state to secede from the rest of the country, where shots were exchanged between Confederate and Union soldiers, and was the main battleground for much of the conflict.

Charleston, SC, is a famous tourist destination in Palmetto State. Home to some of the country’s oldest trees, Charleston has plantation tours, trail rides, wildlife sanctuaries, museums, and beautiful beaches on offer.

As much as it is a great state to visit, it is also a wonderful place to make a home, with many good neighborhoods to choose from.  And of course the South Carolina Powerball is amazing!

Here is a more in-depth look at some of the best places to live in South Carolina.

The Carolina Forest Neighborhoods

One of the more recent residential communities in South Carolina is the Carolina Forest area. It is conveniently located at a far enough distance from the city limits.

For this reason, the area is quite affordable and you get to enjoy plenty of amenities such as night clubs, restaurants, and shopping malls. In addition to this, the Carolina Forest neighborhoods boast schools, from elementary to middle and high school. Not too far off, you will find the Horry Technical Institute and Coastal Carolina University.

Practically a self-contained neighborhood, it has access to good healthcare facilities from doctors and dentists. There are plenty of recreational amenities available such as golf courses, artificial lakes, nature trails, and a shopping center.

You can expect lots of fresh air, scenic views, championship-grade golf courses, friendly neighbors, and parks for those who love to jog or explore nature.

The City of Charleston

Easily one of the highest-ranked residential areas in South Carolina, Charleston is known for its art festivals, athletic events, and cuisine that attracts foodies from all over the world.

Charleston is full of art galleries, hiking trails, and boating activities. There always seems to be something to do in this city, which is why close to 5 million tourists visit it each year.

Columbia, the Capital City of South Carolina

The capital city of South Carolina is home to the University of South Carolina, the state’s largest university where most law and medicine students in the U.S. learn their trade.

It is also the host of college football games, which are extremely popular in the South. It may be the capital of Palmetto State, but Columbia offers residents an escape from urban life as it is only two hours away from the scenic mountains and cool forests.

Make a Home in South Carolina

In recent years real estate in South Carolina has experienced a significant increase, with many new homeowners coming from other parts of the country. The Carolina forest neighborhoods are a must-see if you are looking to settle in a safe and serene area.

The vibrant culture and wealth of history in this state combined with its natural amenities and friendly population, make it an attractive place to make a home.
