Can we give CBD Isolate for pets

CBD or cannabidiol, as we all know, is a non-psychoactive compound extracted from the Cannabis sativa plant species. It is considered very good for humans, especially for ailments such as pain, anxiety and stress. This is because CBD contains quite a lot of antioxidants and essential omega-3 fats that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Like humans, CBD is now being introduced to pets as well, with excellent results. If you are going to give CBD to your pets, this article will help you understand which type of CBD you should give them for maximum benefits. You might have already known that there are three types of CBD products today. They are full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum and CBD isolates.

How different are these products and is CBD Isolate a good choice for pets? Let’s keep reading to know more about this topic in the following sections:

Full-Spectrum CBD

As the name suggests, full-spectrum CBD is the type that contains all the phytochemicals of the cannabis sativa plant. This includes CBD, essential oils, other important cannabinoids, terpenes and a small amount of THC. In most countries, this THC percentage is less than 0.3% for the product to be considered legal.

Broad-Spectrum CBD

This type contains CBD, essential oils, phytochemicals and other cannabinoids except THC. THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is the one that makes you feel high; so, it is removed after the first process of extraction.

CBD Isolates

As you can guess from the name, this type contains only CBD and nothing else. You will not get the benefits of other important cannabinoids, antioxidants and essential oils in this extract. It contains the highest percentage of CBD and is the most concentrated form ever.

For humans, medical experts recommend broad-spectrum CBD-infused products because it gives you all the benefits of CBD and other necessary cannabinoids minus the intoxicating effects of THC. However, full-spectrum CBD is also good for humans and animals because the THC percentage is minimal in it. CBD Isolates are not recommended mostly for two reasons. Firstly, they don’t contain any other essential nutrients except CBD. Secondly, since they are almost 99% pure, they are quite costly, when compared to the other types.

  • Full-Spectrum CBD can be absorbed into your blood within 30 to 90 minutes of consumption, and its effects can last for about 6 to 8 hours.

  • Broad-Spectrum CBD can be absorbed into your blood within 5 to 20 minutes of consumption, and its effects can last for about 4 to 6 hours.

  • CBD Isolates can be absorbed into your blood within 5 to 20 minutes of consumption, and its effects last for up to 4 hours.

As you can see from the above points, CBD Isolates are not good options if you want your pets to enjoy long-lasting relief from CBD. Though they get absorbed very quickly into the blood of pets, the effects last only for a maximum of 4 hours. Therefore, always consider full or broad spectrum CBD for your pets, after consulting with your veterinarian.
