Interesting Facts About Montana

The state’s name is derived from the Spanish word “montana” for mountain. Montana has multiple nicknames including “Big Sky Country” and “The Treasure State”, and slogans that include “Land of the Shining Mountains” and more recently “The Last Best Place”.  It was admitted to the union in 1889.

This beautiful park has more than 700 miles of trails in a vast park with diverse landscapes & abundant wildlife.

Mountain goats are plentiful in Montana and there is even a hunting season for them.

This sanctuary was created for the American Bison in 1908 to help protect the species from extinction.

The planning for St. Helena started on this gothic cathedral in 1905 and was completed in 1914.  A. O. Von Herbulis was commissioned as the architect who had experience and knowledge of cathedrals of Europe.
