A Glimpse at BurgerFi History
John Rosatti is the owner and the founder of BurgerFi together with three other colleagues namely, David Manero and Lee Goldberg. They were all looking for a quality burger with fresh ingredients but they failed to find one. Due to their dissatisfaction with other burgers, the concept of BurgerFi was created which is, fresh, never frozen, and all-natural.
Some of the things that influenced and inspired them to create BurgerFi was the success achieved by The Office in Delray Beach and the all-natural CEO Burger. It’s because when this burger was introduced, it instantly became the restaurant’s top seller and most sought item in their menu.
Because of the burger’s success, John Rosatti, owner and one of the founders of BurgerFi, thought of taking it beyond the Atlantic Avenue and spreading its appeal all over the United States. He wanted to create a fast-casual concept that will remind people about the hamburger stands in the 1950’s and 1960’s. With this, David, Lee, and John got together and created casual meals of long ago.
The first ever BurgerFi restaurant was opened in February 2011 in sunny Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida. Due to its remarkable success, the three founders decided to open new locations all over the United States.
From 2012 to 2013, the chain’s sales have grown by 178 percent. According to a Technomic study, BurgerFi is the fastest growing restaurant chain in its category of less than $200 million annual sales in the US.
It also continues to create new kinds of burger patties. In 2017, BurgerFi introduced a vegan patty burger called “Beyond the Burger”. It is made from proteins derived from peas and other plants. This ensures that the burger does not contain any cholesterol.

BurgerFi’s Charitable Activities
Aside from serving healthy foods and being an eco-friendly restaurant, BurgerFi also conducts charitable activities.
BurgerFi has an annual celebration called #GivingTuesday. It is celebrated through supporting the American Red Cross. In this charity, every time a customer spends on a BurgerFi gift card, it will be matched by the company for a minimum of $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
This celebration provides a platform for organization to get the support of non-profit organizations at the start of the holiday season after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In 2017, more than 10,000 organizations in 46 countries have participated in their charitable work.
