History


Mythos Brewery is the second-largest brewery in Greece. It was established under the name Henninger Hellas S.A. in 1970, and has been part of the Boutari Group since 1992. In 1994, it was renamed Northern Greece Brewery Ltd., as a part of strategy to turn it into a genuine domestic Greek beer company. In 1997, this goal was accomplished by introducing Mythos beer.

When Mythos beer was launched in 1997, it quickly enthused the audience, making it the 3rd beer brand in the Greek market. The recipe of Mythos beer combined the expertise of the Greek Master Brewer of Mythos Brewery and their collaborations with primary European beer schools. In 2001, the brewery renamed itself as the Mythos Brewery S.A., when Mythos beer became its primary product. Mythos Brewery got their first major distinction at the beginning of 00s, a Gold Award in the 2001 Interbeeer International Beer and Whiskey Competition.

In 2004, Scottish and Newcastle became major shareholders in Mythos Brewery. And since 2008, Mythos Brewery has been a subsidiary of Carlsberg Group. From 2001 to 2008, Mythos Brewery has been raising its sales in Greece. This led them to exporting Mythos beer to more than 30 countries in the world.

In 2011, another Superior Taste Award was achieved by Mythos Brewery after a blind tasting session. From 2011 to 2012, Mythos Brewery continued introducing new technologies to keep their beer fresh for more extended periods. This includes the DraughtMaster™ Flex 20 and DraughtMaster™ Modular 20 technologies, which enable people to enjoy their Mythos beer more.

The Mythos Radler was launched in 2014 by Mythos Brewery. It is a refreshing mixture of beer and fresh lemon juice. With this innovation, the brewery won the Premium Taste Award. In 2015, Carlsberg Group reformed Olympic Brewery after Mythos and Olympic Brewery Merged. This means that since 2015, Olympic Brewery produces Mythos beer.

In 2016, Mythos beer got a new modern label and its legendary easy-open cap. In 2018, the new cool cap for their beers was introduced, and the image of Mythos Radler was also changed.
