Top Films of the 2000s

The 21st century saw important and significant films. With more accessibility to new high technology, computer-generated images (CGI) effects were more prevalent in films than before, as well as more sophisticated. In addition, film genres that weren’t popular in the USA in particular otherwise gained widespread popularity and acclaim (such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Documentary-style films (like Super Size Me and Farenheit 9/11) enjoyed great mainstream success. Some film genres such as comic book, epic and musicals experience some sort of resurgence, such as Moulin Rouge and Spider-Man, which were both successful critically and commercially.
