Covid-19: Why Is It Deadly?

Covid-19, or more popularly referred to as coronavirus, is a vast community of viruses that attack the immunity of humans and lead to a variety of health issues, ranging from mild-severe fever to death.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (BARS-Clf,t2) is a new strain that causes the COVID-19 disease. Although the flu and coronavirus are from different virus families, they cause similar symptoms: Respiratory illness with high fever and shortness of breath. You might be curious about the symptoms of these three interrelated medical ailments. Learning the difference in symptoms in common cold, flu, and COVID-19 is important. Because you may develop some respiratory issues and the symptoms might appear. Therefore, in that case, you must know, they are arising due to which illness.

We don’t yet have immunity built up against this virus. This is why isolation is required for patients who test positive, have symptoms, and/or are high risk. The virus can spread from person to person, but as with most similar viruses, close contact is believed to be required. The most common person-to-person spread to date has been among people in very close proximity, as with spouses or similarly close household members.

Symptom#1: Vomiting

This is associated with the problems in the GI tract. Around 3.6% of the cases have vomiting and abdominal pain as the symptom, leading to confirmation of covid-19.

Symptom#2: Headache

The victim usually feels abnormal headaches, which are usually frequent. This has been reported both in the early and later stages of covid. Being one of the common covid symptoms according to WHO, it is usually detected along with fever.

Symptom#3: Dizziness

It makes up around 90% of the present Covid-19 symptoms. The victim starts to feel lethargic, starts falling off abruptly, and experiences low energy levels at most times of the day. According to reports, dizziness is one of the most frequent neurological manifestations of the virus.

Symptom#4: Sore Throat

This is this unusual feeling at the back of the throat. The victim usually feels a sense of fullness and some difficulty in swallowing as well. This symptom makes up around 17% of all the covid-19 cases. This also leads to a loss of smell or taste in most cases.

Symptom#5: Shortness of Breath

This symptom contributes to around 31% of the total Covid-19 cases. This is quite common, especially as this covid-19 is associated with the upper & lower respiratory tracts. The disease infects the lower respiratory tract and leads to pneumonia. Shortness of breath is difficulty breathing, getting air in, even gasping for air, chest pressure, chest tightness, and feeling rather uncomfortable because not enough air is coming in.

Symptom#6: Poor Appetite

Poor appetite, also called Anorexia, is another deadly Covid-19 symptom. It makes up nearly 39-40% of all the Covid cases reported so far. In fact, this is not unusual for chronic diseases like Covid-19, which not only affects the lungs but other body parts as well, like the abdomen and stomach. The victim may feel unwell and lose the desire or the need to eat. Lack of eating means a shortage of the necessary elements to the body, weakening the immune system that gives the virus a good chance to attack and make the victim sick.

Final Word

Covid cases are increasing rapidly with every passing day. It is important to stay vigilant in these tough times. Do not hesitate to get covid testing done should you encounter any of the symptoms listed above.
