The pandemic is nearly in the rearview mirror and for thousands of Americans this summer will mark the first time in over a year when they’re finally able to venture outside their communities. If you live in Washington State there are lots of places that can make a great weekend getaway for family or a group of your closest friends.

1. Walla Walla
Walla Walla, the town so nice they named it twice, is a beautiful community in the Eastern part of the state. Nestled at the base of the Blue Mountains, the views in the area are absolutely stunning. Walla Walla has made a name for itself in the wine community and is also becoming a go-to foodie destination. Don’t let all the fool you though, the community has a rich agricultural history and local farmers are still harvesting delicious produce that can be found at a number of roadside stands and farmers markets in the area.
Walla Walla is also home to amazing recreational activities with hundreds of miles of trails to explore by foot or by bike. Anglers can also enjoy a wonderful weekend on the rivers and lakes that surround the area.
2. Leavenworth
Leavenworth, located close to Wenatchee, is a small town designed to mimic an old world Alpine/Bavarian style village. The area is extremely welcoming for tourists with dozens of specialty shops, dining options, spas, and accommodations. While visiting any time of year is fun, they have a wonderful winter season that’s full of themed events and beautiful tree lighting ceremonies.
3. Port Angeles
Ignore all the Twilight references that might have popped into your head with this one. Port Angeles is a beautiful costal town located at the epicenter of the Olympic Peninsula. This town is the gateway to the Olympic National Park that is also packed with history. If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful place to enjoy a vacation then this is the place for you.
