‘Liverpool’s African Stars Are Three Of The Best’

'Liverpool's African Stars Are Three Of The Best'

Liverpool has been in the spotlight over the last few years. Being one of the most well-known teams in the world, and playing in debatably the hardest league in the world means that sometimes teams have to bring the cash to secure players.

Liverpool’s three musketeers from Africa may be some of the best examples when it comes to getting your money’s worth in a player. Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Joel Matip have shown their skills in the Premier League since joining the club and are some of the best players coming out of Africa right now.

Many wishing they had put down a bet on these players during their recent clash with Arsenal, seeing them win with 3 goals to 1. You can place online soccer bets with Betway South Africa to get your chance at winning.

It’s not only the fans who are thinking this, however. Retired Liverpool Goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar claims that the trio are the best African players out there. Grobbelaar, who played over 600 games for Liverpool over his 13-year career with them spoke recently at the grand opening of Liverpool’s International Academy in Mauritius.

“There are a lot of good African players and we’ve got three of the best at Liverpool,” said Grobbelaar in an interview with BBC Sport, being himself from the continent, Zimbabwe to be exact.

“Sadio Mane came in and he is doing a stunning job. He was unlucky to lose the Africa Nations Cup final.

“Mohamed Salah, well if you go to Egypt he is a god there.

“Joel Matip, I knew his brother also, with whom Zimbabwe have had many battles and we played against Cameroon thrice in World Cup competitions. We were beaten and The Indomitable Lions went into the finals.”

Liverpool themselves have a long history with African stars, in the 50s and 60s there were many stars from the continent that made a huge impression on the club and the football world. With Bruce Grobbelaar coming to the club himself in 1981.

The super three have been hugely a part of the great start to the Premier League season, with the team holding maximum points after the first four games.

But it’s not only Liverpool where we are seeing growth in stars from the African continent. We’ve seen a large increase in fantastic players joining clubs not only in the English Premier League but European leagues like the DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH), Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional & more.

It can only be for sure that we’ll see so many more African Stars rising through the ranks from youth clubs or transfers from African clubs themselves. In a short amount of time we expect to see more African players on TV, in the media and online bringing even more pride to the continent!

The African continent may be one to look for when putting down your betway bets if you’re an avid gambler.

We can only hope that teams like Liverpool continue to allow the chance for players all over the world to rise through their youth teams and help them improve their skills.
