Male Mental Health – Tips For Bolstering Your Self-Esteem

Gentlemen, if you’ve been feeling low lately and could use a pick-me-up then you have come to the right place. In this article we are going to share some tips for bolstering your self-esteem with a focus on male mental health. You are so much better than you give yourself credit for and with a little guidance we can have you feeling good about yourself in no time.

1.    Remember that you are the only one who cares

Of course, your family and friends love you, but that’s not the point. When it comes to your physical appearance, you are the only one who cares. Think about it: how much thought do you put into the appearance of others? Besides, comparing yourself to Jason Momoa of course (which by the way, don’t). Ask yourself, how much time do you spend seriously thinking about another man’s receding hairline, or the size of his nose, or how big his belly is?

The fact is, you are the only one who cares. Once you realise that, you can let go of these false expectations that you place upon yourself. So long as you are happy with the way you look, that is all that matters.

2.    Let go of what you can’t control

Losing your hair? Sucks. But guess what? There’s nothing you can do about it. You’ve got two options:

  • Spend the rest of your life clinging on to what little hair you have left and making yourself sick with worry about what other people think.
  • OR, realise that nobody cares, shave your head and be done with it. Tap out to baldness and own it. In the wise words of Tyrion Lannister: “Wear it like armour”.

3.    Talk to yourself as you do others

Why is it that you are so kind and supportive to everyone else and yet you continue speaking to yourself like crap? It’s time to change your inner-dialogue and start treating yourself with some respect. You are a living, walking human being. The fact that you are alive right now is amazing. Act like it.

4.    Forget about your flaws and focus on the positives

So you’re not perfect? Big deal. Rather than waste your time obsessing over your flaws, why not start taking note of everything you are grateful for? OK, so perhaps you are going bald, but if you’ve got a magnum dong then it’s not all bad is it?

5.    Masturbate (more often)

When you ejaculate you release dopamine, oxytocin, endorphins and testosterone. In other words – it does you good. Literally, science says that masturbation is good for you so go all out and make a habit of it. In fact, why not go one better and buy fleshlights or any other sex toys that take your fancy? If you want to learn to love yourself, you have to take care of yourself – literally.

6.    Exercise and eat better

If you hate yourself because you are out of shape, then guess what? There’s only one thing to do about it: start exercising and eating healthier. You don’t have to do much more than 30-minutes a day if you don’t want to, and you can still have the occasional treat as well. Getting in shape doesn’t mean no more chocolate bars or beers, it just means finding balance. Do yourself a favour.
