Although the emergence of motion pictures began as early as the 1890s, the industry flourished in the 1920s which saw the progress of feature-length films production. The 1920s is of course, the golden era of silent films although in the latter part of the decade came the birth of the “talkies,” (or movies with full soundtrack) beginning with the arrival of Al Jolson’s The Jazz Singer.
