5 Simple Ways to Pay Your Utility Bills

views

In the past, paying utility bills was a daunting task. One had to skip their office hours and stand in long queues for hours to not miss the deadline of the bill. We all know missing the last date of the bill can result in a penalty.

At those times, we all wished for this process to become easier. We all wanted an assistant who could do this tedious job. Fortunately, today we have apps like Deferit who pays your bills before the due dates and you can repay them later. Sounds interesting, isn’t it?

But technology has made it a lot easier now and nobody needs to skip their lunch breaks or office hours too. Here are 5 simple ways in which you can pay your utility bills.

1. Internet banking

According to a report by Statista Research Development, there are 1.9 billion individuals who are using online banking services as of 2020. This number is expected to grow to 2.5 billion by 2024.

The use of internet banking has increased because it can be used anywhere and anytime. It is like keeping your bank in your pocket. So, this easy bank also helps us to pay our utility bills. You do not need to create a separate account for this. To pay bills, you simply have to log into your e-banking account and make the payment.

Internet banking also provides you the option of ‘Auto-pay’ where the bill automatically gets paid and the amount is deducted from your account.

2. Debit/ Credit cards

You can now also use your debit cards to pay your bills. These cards are linked to your savings account so the amount is deducted from the account. This avoids the hassle of carrying the bundle of notes to the biller. The added advantage here is that you also get some cash-back offers on certain debit cards that help you to save money.

In the case of credit cards, you can pay the bill first and repay the bank later within a stipulated period of time. You get some discounts or redeemable points that help you to save some amount.

3. Mobile banking

Your smartphone is called ‘smart’ because of a reason. It is justifying the role of your assistant by giving you the power to access the world at your fingertips. This smartphone also helps you to pay for your utilities if you have a mobile banking application installed. Finish the registration process, and the bank is on your phone.

You are now capable of paying for your utility bills, travel, shopping, and other services too. The benefit of using this mobile banking service is they provide cashbacks, discounts, or promo codes on making payments that you can use for other services.

4. UPI app

The UPI (Unified Payment Interface) has been a boon to us. It has brought a revolution in the banking system and changed the entire method of transactions. It is linked to IMPS and so you can avail of its services 24*7.

This is a totally different method that enables you to make quick payments. You don’t have to create an account here. You just install the app and create a Virtual Payment Address (VPA). With this VPA, you make bank-to-bank transfers without remembering any sensitive information. The transaction limit is up to 1 lakh.

This UPI also provides you the option for paying your bills at a click. The amount is reduced from your bank account and the bill is paid.

5. Mobile wallets

The use of mobile wallets is increasing every day. There are a lot of mobile wallets that have emerged in the past few months. They allow you to pay your bills, book travel tickets, and shop online along with different other services. Attractive vouchers, promo codes, and cashback are a reason why these mobile wallets are in demand.

With these wallets, you can also maintain a passbook to check your finances and transfer your Digi money to your bank account.

Over to you…

In the era of smartphones, we all need to become smart with advancing technology. The automatic payment options save you all the headache of remembering your bills and taking the pain of going to the office. Use the extra benefits provided by these ways and save your hard-earned money.
