I think the bigger problem you will find in life is that finding pastime is a challenge. Once you find some pastime, you will never lack something that you can do. The trick to finding awesome things is that you need to keep an open mind. Be open to new experiences and learning opportunities. If you decide to go back to those things that you have tried before, you may not find the thrill that comes with new things. Here are the eight things that will not just pique your interest and curiosity in life; they will also give you a great opportunity to learn something new.
1. Take tutorials serious
We are in a new era. Anything you want to learn can be done online. You don’t need to go to a trainer or something like that. All you have to do is to take tutorials seriously. You can learn woodworking, painting, new recipes, jewelry making, paper Mache, coding, and baking. Tutorials require an awful lot of work and practice to get it right. Do not be discouraged from trying it out, fail, or start again until you concur that new skill. The beauty of it is that you will not need to pay anything to follow on most tutorials. Some will tell you to subscribe to more videos, but you don’t have to.
2. Try new games
You’ve probably started gaming software available on Play Store or App Store or any other app store on your phone. Whatever option you have, there are enough games on your smartphone, like word games you can try out. If you are having a hard time, you can look for help in games online. These games can help you not just with boredom, but it might also help the brain work.
3. Nature walks and activities
Nature is a fresh breath of air for anyone. It has a way of invoking our primal yet empathetic qualities. You don’t have to be doing anything specific. You can walk, observe, and marvel. There is a lot that you can discover in a single instance of nature walks.
4. Work on a side hustle
The easiest way to approach this is to monetize a hobby. If you are a soccer player, you can start blogging about it and start selling merchandise. If you love animals, you can start a kitchen farm. You can make tutorials of your experiences, post them online, promote them, and enter into affiliate earning.
5. Volunteer
You don’t have to volunteer to a place where you have to endure. Volunteer only in places where you will enjoy being there. You can volunteer anywhere, including animal farms, museums, zoos, hospices, orphanages, or even with NGOs. Joining a time banking community would be a great option in serving volunteer works while doing what you love.
6. Play with kids
It can be an opportunity to have fun if you get a pastime when you have children around you. Children are fun to be around, especially if you know how to handle them. All you have to do is to keep everything fun. They hate boring stuff. You can learn a lot about what is going on in their lives, but that should not be the motive. You can be updated about their lives, too. You can take part in any choice activity, including playing online games, decorating the house, or even setting up some electronics.
7. Just dance
Put on your dancing shoes and fire up your music system. It does not need to be too serious. You can start slow and move with the music. If you are the lyricist, you can hum or sing along if you can. Dancing is a fun way to exercise and keep fit. You can learn a lot in the process, too, about your body and your capabilities.
8. Take a video marathon
Today, millions of videos are uploaded online. Most of them offer great content, with entertainment or educational value. Wherever you are in the world, you can now take a video marathon anytime you want. All you have is to pick a topic and put on autoplay. YouTube, Youku, TikTok, Giphy, and other sites will offer you plenty of videos to enjoy. You can pick a random topic. It can be history, geography, fashion, art, or anything that comes to your mind.
Pastime should be a time when you enjoy it. It can also be a time when you learn simple but fun things in life. To achieve that, you will need an open mind and a sense of experimentation and trial. You should also make it a habit.
