eCommerce: The Importance of Shipping Parcels using the Correct Packaging

views

Are you a small business owner, or even a C-suite manager of a large multinational organization? Are, are you an eCommerce retailer? If so, you will need to ship products sold to your customers?

If you have answered yes to one or more of these questions, the next question is, what packaging should you use to pack products before shipping them?

In summary, the succinct answer to this question is that the best packaging to use is bubble envelopes.

Why?

Before we look at the value of not skimping on packaging when shipping parcels to customers, let’s consider a snapshot of the global environment as it is going to change the way we work, live, and shop.

The current global socioeconomic climate: A snapshot

The world, as we know it, is changing and has changed rapidly as a result of the fast-spreading Coronavirus, COVID-19. Consequently, the world’s governments are taking drastic measures to prevent this viral infection from overrunning their medical health facilities. Research has shown that one of the best ways to stop the virus’s rampant spread is social distancing.

Part of the social distancing effort is to ask people to work from home and stay at home unless it is absolutely essential to go out. Thus, the global economic business model is forced to move from a contact environment to a remote, online environment. Therefore, in the short- to medium-term, eCommerce businesses should experience sales growth. January and February 2020 statistics show that eCommerce sites linked to brick-and-mortar stores experienced an “average weekly growth of 52%” in online sales when compared with the same period in 2019.

Unfortunately, the nature of COVID-19 is such that there are a high number of anomalies and unknowns in the way it mutates and spreads. As a result, the global economy has moved back into a recession. The stock markets have dropped rapidly and are at levels last seen since 2008.

Shipping parcels packaged correctly

This discussion highlights the unique opportunities an eCommerce retailer has to grow. People are already moving to the online shopping model so that they do not have to leave their homes. However, the caveat here is that if you don’t deliver a quality product in the shortest time possible, you will probably end up shutting your business down.

Thus, one of the best ways to add value to people’s lives is to ship purchased goods as soon as possible after the sale’s conclusion. Secondly, it is equally important to use packaging that will prevent the sold products from breaking while in transit.

The bubble envelope’s unique construction ensures that its contents are protected while in transit. It has a layer of air bubbles between the inside of the envelope and the external environment. Therefore, its contents are protected should the parcel be thrown around during transit.

Finally, the bubble envelope is also recyclable, so it does not end up in one of the many landfill sites across the world. And, because the envelope is recyclable, it does not need to be disinfected when the parcel has arrived, and the contents unpacked.
