Things to Remember When You’ve Hit Rock Bottom

views

Have you ever felt like you’ve fallen into a bottomless pit? Most of us have hit rock bottom. Life sometimes exposes us to challenges that knock us down leaving us hopeless and distraught. If you get to this point you can either wallow in your pain or gain impetus and rise up from the ashes.

So How Do You Get Your Life Together?

1. Feel Your Pain Without Repressing it or Getting Attached

Let your emotions flow and allow yourself to feel the disappointment, frustration or even anger. If you distract yourself by thinking about other things these negative emotions will keep growing.

Feel your pain without getting attached. Let it flow without looking for solutions or someone to blame. Just allow yourself to feel and these emotions will fade with time setting you free.

2. Give Yourself Time to Reflect

Reflection puts everything into perspective. You need to delve deep and give meaning to what you’ve experienced and understand how it has affected you. Once you let your emotions flow it eases your mind and lightens your heart and in the process you learn a lesson or two.

You should note that reflection should never involve playing the blame game, but being aware of your individual responsibility, forgiving yourself and making positive decisions to improve your life.

As you ponder on how to get your life together you should take advantage of this opportunity to show yourself some compassion. Shower yourself with love, forgive yourself, respect yourself and give yourself another chance.

3. Hit Reset

Rock bottom gives you insights on how to get your life together by giving you a chance to start all over without any pressures. This is the perfect time to get rid of all sorts of negativity and start all over again.

This is the time to come up with a new vision and find a new network of people that you can tap into. You can develop new beliefs, principles and values that you can base your life on. You can even cultivate a new work ethic.

4. Reach Out

You don’t have to do this alone. Reaching out doesn’t mean dragging others into your mess, but seeking for help. The weight of your problems may be too much to bear alone, so you should not hesitate to reach out to the people that love and care about you.

These people want to see you thriving again and will readily lend a helping hand which will do wonders for you.

5. Trust the Journey

When you hit rock bottom it’s important not to bear regret. Don’t lose your enthusiasm because your last chapter is yet to be written. It’s normal to encounter rough patches, fail and get overwhelmed by life. However, you must acknowledge that this is life.

As you deliberate on how to get your life together you should remember that these low moments fill you with humility, compassion and make you more grateful for what you have.
