If you are an adventurous type of person, then you should be up for exploring various unique and exciting places, such as historical mines,  parks, and many more. One of the most common targets of adventure-seekers is abandoned places, in hopes of finding some mysterious and fascinating stuff never before seen.

Over the years, numerous buildings, houses, parks, and other establishments became abandoned for various reasons. Each of these structures became the point of interest of those people who are looking for a thrill. However, going to such places does not only require a brave heart; you should also be aware of some rules before you decide to take a peek or explore these abandoned places.

Without proper knowledge of your destination could lead to trouble, or worse, life-threatening scenarios. That is why it is important to know some rules before starting your adventure. In this article, we are going to look into the various rules for exploring abandoned places.

Prepare Your Stuff

First on the list when planning to go on an adventure in abandoned places is to prepare your stuff. As apparent as it seems, preparing your stuff is crucial during these types of activities. The kind of stuff you would need to prepare should be inclined with the place you are going. Make sure to pack your first aid kit, extra clothes, and other equipment to have a worry-free adventure. Exploring abandoned places might be fun, but if you are not prepared with the proper equipment, you’d be prone to accidents and life-threatening risks.

Always Ask Permission

Just like entering any other establishments, one of the most important things to keep in mind is to ask for permission. Especially when you are planning to enter abandoned houses or buildings, the first thing you need to do is to talk to authorized personnel in charge, whether the establishment you are entering is safe. Understand the restrictions of the place to make sure you are not breaking any law. Without proper asking of permission, your adventure might end up as trespassing into someone else’s property.

Bring a Companion

No matter how brave you are, always make sure to bring someone with you when you go on your adventure. Your companion could be anyone: a friend or family member, as long as they are someone you trust. If you follow this rule, you can make sure that someone has your back when things start to get complicated. An abandoned house is not a place to play around. Some of these places are known for existing hundreds and even thousands of years ago. That is why we would never know if the place is still strong enough to hold much longer.

Never Break-In

In line with asking for permission, another rule that you need to follow when you are planning to explore abandoned places is never to break in. If you were not given permission to enter an abandoned establishment, it is better to leave and try to look for other target places to explore. There are various reasons why some places are restricted to visitors; one of the most common is safety hazards.

Don’t Push Yourself into Going to Restricted Areas

Once you are already inside an abandoned place, one thing that you would need to keep in mind is to have discipline. You might be permitted to enter an old establishment, but always check for signages once you are inside. Some abandoned establishments are known for having signages to keep visitors from going beyond a certain point. Once you see those kinds of signs, it is better to step back and just continue exploring other parts of the place.

Know the Hazards in the Place

Last but not least, when exploring an abandoned place, you need to be aware of the hazards in the place. Do a little research or ask someone who is knowledgeable about the place. Make sure to learn about the safety risk of a particular establishment before entering. This practice would help a lot when it comes to your safety as it could help you prepare better and avoid accidents.
