Those who grew up in a relatively solitary environment are perhaps more accustomed to getting what they want and when they want.

He was born to Italian immigrants in Hoboken, New Jersey, on December 12th, 1915, and was the only child of Martin and Natalie Sinatra.

Jack’s family background is shrouded with mystery and interesting facts. He was taken in by her biological mother, June, who helped raise him with her parents, whereas his father’s identity remains unknown. 

Jack is well-known for playing different major and supporting roles, including humorous characters, romantic leads, anti-heroes, and villains. He is one of the veteran actors who has helped and developed Hollywood, inspiring many young aspiring actors.

Leonardo DiCaprio is a famous American actor born in Los Angles, California, on November 11th, 1974. Leo is the only child of Irmelin DiCaprio and George DiCaprio, an underground comic writer, and publisher. 

Leonardo is half Italian; his mother gave him his unique name after finding and admiring a Leonardo da Vinci painting in Florence, Italy, one day. DiCaprio’s parents got separated when he was a year old, and then he was raised by his single mother.

Ciara Princess Wilson is an American singer born in Austin, Texas, on October 25th, 1985, but she grew up in different parts of the world. She was the only child of Jackie and Carlton Clay Harris. Due to her father serving in the army, she lived in many countries like Germany, New York, California, and Arizona, among other places. 

Ciara’s family at last settled in Atlanta, which she considers to be her hometown. As she was the only child of her parents, they experimented by giving her different names. They gave her the name after the Revlon perfume known as Ciara, which first debuted in 1973. 

5. Awkwafina


Nora Lum, better known as Awkwafina, is an American actress of Chinese origin born in Queens, New York City, on June 2nd, 1988. She is the only child to Wally, the first-generation Chinese American and Tia, who immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s. Awkwafina’s mother passed away when she was about four years old, and since then, her father and paternal grandparents have raised her. 

She didn’t like that she was the only child growing up and often felt very lonely because of it, but that loneliness proved to be a creative outlet for her. In an interview, she said that she used to bring people to her house and tell them that there’s a hole in her closet that leads to another world.

She is well known for performances in movies like The Lovely Bones, Lady Bird, and Little Women. She received a Golden Globe and nominations for four Academy Awards and five British Academy Film Awards while being only 26 years old.

Idrissa Akuna Elba is a famous English actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and DJ born in 1972 in Hackney, London. He is the only child of Winston and Eve Elba, who migrated from Sierra Leon and Ghana. Even though he didn’t mind being the only child, many other kids picked on him because he was very tall.

He is famous for his roles in String Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela.

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, commonly known as Sia, is an Australian musician born in Adelaide on December 18th, 1975. She is the only child of Phil Colson, musician, and Loene Furler, art lecturer 

After struggling with fertility issues, she adopted two 18-year old sons who were going to age out of the foster care system in 2020. She didn’t want to follow in her parents’ footsteps when it came to having just one kid – and now she is a mother of two. 

Sia released her debut studio album, OnlySee in Australia. She moved to London and sang for the British group Zero 7. Her second album was published in 2001, and her third studio album, Color the Small One, was released in 2004.

Samra, his mother, used to do several jobs and went to night school. She gave lots of love and attention to her only child when she was home. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Abel said that he’s a mama’s boy who gets everything good from his mother.

The family moved to the UK, and Brosnan became interested in acting. He is most famous for his recurring role as James Bond from 1995 to 2002 and has also been in many other movies and TV shows.

The famous Hollywood troublemaker Shia Saide Lebouf was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 11th, 1986, to Shayna Saide and Jeffery Craig Lebouf and is also the only child. The father is of French ancestry, whereas the mother is of Jewish origin. 

Shia started his career by doing stand-up comedy in various clubs. He started looking for an agent to help him and eventually got a role in the popular Disney show “Even Stevens,” which gave rise to his fame and eventually paved his way towards Hollywood and the big screen.  

Among the shows and movies, he’s known for include Even Stevens and the Transformers movie series. 


Celebrities aren’t any different from us, and there are a lot of them that are the only children of their parents.
