No doubt about it — the Rolling Stones are one of the most commercially successful and longest-living rock groups in music history. The Rolling Stones’ best-known lineup consisted of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones (who died in 1969). From a band initially wanting to follow the Beatles, The Rolling Stones became famous on their own not only for their distinctive blues-rock and pop offering, but also for the controversy surrounding them.
Since surfacing from the British Invasion days in the early 1960s, the Stones (as they’re called) still continue to record and tour in the 20th century. This the proof that these bad boys are still rocking it out, despite their age!
To date the Rolling Stones have released 29 studio albums, 13 live albums, 24 compilation albums, three EP’s and 107 singles — talk about being prolific!
Speaking of singles, they Stones have achieved a lot of top 10 hit singles throughout their career, both in their homeland the United Kingdom and in the US. In fact, many of their biggest hits were inducted into the “500 Greatest Songs” list of the music magazine named, well, Rolling Stone (they group themselves don’t own the magazine! It’s just that the magazine’s name was inspired by the group, among many other factors).
Without further ado, here is the complete list of the Rolling Stones’ top ten hits, in the US and in the UK with their corresponding release years.
